Bengaluru, May 19: A 35-year-old woman chased a cab driver, who started groping her from behind, and caught him with the help of passers-by after a hot pursuit.

The woman, a graphic designer, was going to a grocery shop located on the main road in the Judicial Layout in Sanjay Nagar near Hebbal on Monday.

The cab driver, identified as Puttananja, allegedly followed the woman in the rush of the crowd and grabbed her from behind.

Taken aback and shocked by the incident, the victim raised an alarm seeking help from the people. When the accused started running, the braveheart woman gave him a hot pursuit. Hearing the alarm raised by the woman and seeing her run after the accused, a few passers-by rushed to her help and managed to pin down the culprit.

One of the passers-by alerted the police, who immediately rushed to the spot, and took the accused to the police station.

The victim later filed a written complaint narrating the incident.

Based on the complaint, the police booked a case under Section 354 IPC for outraging the modesty of a woman and remanded him to judicial custody.

The accused has been identified as Puttananja, a native of Davanagere district, who had recently come to Bengaluru for work as a cab driver, police said.

Our rapists are never discouraged in spite of the strong and tough leader.
We need to have tough/strict laws to discourage any thing unlawful and acts of criminality.

Flavian it's not the duty of the national leader to control these culprits. He can form LAW but to effectively bring it into action it is the responsibility of the state legal department unfortunately handled by sleeping partners siddu & buddu (mallu)
