Bengaluru, May 20: A report has been sought after it was found that a garland presented to chief minister Siddaramaiah had a battery cell in it. Though the battery cell itself was not dangerous to the lives of people, a battery cell coming into the vicinity of CM without being detected is considered as a serious security breach.

City commissioner of police M N Reddy has asked the additional commissioner of police-Eastern Range P Harishekaran to investigate the matter and send the report on the issue.

The garland was presented to Siddaramaiah at his official residence Kaveri on Tuesday morning by a political leader. The C M was interacting with the public and listening to their grievances.

The unnamed political leader, who wanted to be different from others, presented the CM with the garland which had small twinkling lights. It was found that the garland contained a battery cell to illuminate the lights.

No matter what was the intention of the political leader who carried the garland, the incident has been construed as a serious security breach. The police top brass wants to know how such a security breach did take place.

P Harishekaran has confirmed that the commissioner has sought the report on the security breach.
