Mangaluru, May 20: The city-based Ramlans Charitable Trust (regd) formed in July 2013 has worked tirelessly for the underprivileged and less fortunate people in the society. It has emerged as one such trust that provides basic amenities for the poorest of the poor, extending all kinds of facilities related to health, education, food, shelter and much more.

In an event scheduled to be held on May 30, Ramlans Trust will launch its website and distribute RCT Awards for Excellence in Charity, an initiative that will recognize unsung heroes in the field of social work.

Alva's Education Foundation chairman Dr Mohan Alva, deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim, former minister BA Mohideen and Mangaluru North MLA B Mohiuddin Bava will be the guests for the function.

The ceremony will also see the launch of a book on the late V Ramlan Haji, who was known to be a man of principles and served as a BDO, tahsildar, assistant commissioner, district magistrate, regional transport officer (RTO), district development officer, headquarter assistant and special land acquisition officer in the late 60s and 70s.

Daijiworld will be the official web partner and media partner while BIG 92.7 FM will be its radio partner for the event.

About Ramlans Charitable Trust

In the last two years, RCT has conducted over 20 initiatives for the poor which include sponsoring education, providing financial aid to carry out weddings, construction of houses for the underprivileged, health camps, revamping old age homes, fun evenings, dream camps for HIV-positive kids, monetary aid to the physically challenged and distribution of food to the needy on streets.

Speaking to Daijiworld, Zeeshan Ramlan, a young professional and MD of the Trust said, "There are a lot of people suffering in and around us - just walk along the street, beach or a park and you will always find the downtrodden and needy. RCT is one such trust that reaches out to people on ground. We look at providing permanent solutions to the poor and helping them in whatever way possible."

Today, more and more aged persons have been abandoned by their families. Normally they are weak in health due to age, hunger and health problems. Ramlans Trust has stepped up for a cause and is planning to build an old age home soon.
