Leonardo DiCaprio, Paris Hilton in bidding war

Cannes, May 20 (IANS): Actor Leonardo DiCaprio reportedly got into a bidding war with Paris Hilton for a 10,000-pound Chanel handbag at a charity gala here.

The "Wolf of Wall Street" star outbid Hilton and secured the blue Chanel Neoprene flap bag embroidered with flowers at the Heart Fund Gala at the Carlton Hotel here.

The 40-year-old star "bought the bag for his mom", Irmelin Indenbirken, after fending off stiff competition from the former reality TV star and two other bidders, reports pagesix.com.

"Paris was great. She bid on many things, and Leo did too. Both her and Leo were so active during the entire auction. It was really nice to see," an insider told people.com.

The star-studded gala raised 5.1 million pounds after a mystery donor pledged five million pounds to the charity, which aims to bring heart care to poor children.

The money will be used to fund a private plane that will visit some of the world's most remote areas to perform surgeries and screen children for heart disease.
