Woman burns husband, six others to death in Tamil Nadu

Chennai, May 20 (IANS): In a gruesome incident, a woman allegedly burnt her husband and six other family members to death on Wednesday in Tamil Nadu.

The incident took place in Madurai district, around 470 km from here.

Police said Pandeeswari was married to Kannan three years back. However, owing to marital discard the couple lived separately with Kannan shifting to Chennai after finding a job.

Kannan was at his native place when his wife asked him to live with her, which he declined. He was staying with his parents, sister and her three children.

Police said Pandeeswari in the early hours of Wednesday poured kerosene inside her in-laws' house, locked the door from outside and set the house afire.

As the door was locked from outside, six people died immediately.

Kannan's sister's son Vineeth, who was battling for life, died on the way to a hospital.

Pandeeswari, later, surrendered to police.
