Bantwal: Rat fever claims life of newly married woman

Bantwal, May 21: Shweta (21), who had been suffering from rat fever since the last some days, succumbed to this disease on Wednesday May 20. Shweta, who was being treated in a private hospital in Mangaluru, did not properly respond to medication. She was a resident of Kooduraste, Narimogaru, in the taluk.

She had married a youth from Mardhala, Kadaba, 20 days back. After she began suffering from fever a week back, she had been admitted into the government hospital at Puttur. As the fever failed to subside, she was shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru two days back. Rat fever claimed her life on Wednesday.

Shweta is survived by husband and parents.
