Lucknow, Apr 5: In a significant order, Allahabad High Court today ruled that Muslims in Uttar Pradesh are not a minority community.
The ruling assumes significance, especially in the backdrop of the impending state Assembly elections.
A single judge bench of Justice S N Srivastava passed this order on a writ petition filed by the managing committee of Anjuman Noorul Islam, Ghazipur.
The court observed that the state government should treat Muslims as a non-minority community.
