Committed to getting back black money: Amit Shah

New Delhi, May 21 (IANS): BJP president Amit Shah on Thursday said his government is committed to getting back black money stashed abroad.

"It was our election promise, we will make all efforts to get back black money," Shah said at 'manthan' conclave organised by TV news channel Aaj Tak.

"Making a SIT on black money was the first decision of the union cabinet. We also got a bill in the budget session," he said.

Clarifying his controversial comment that getting back black money was a political idiom, Shah said: "I meant the money will be used for national development, not that people will be given cheques".

Shah had said in an interview the promise of depositing Rs. 15 lakh in every account from the black money that will be brought back was just a political 'jumla' (idiom).
