Have to neutralise terrorists using terrorists, says Defence Minister Parrikar

New Delhi, May 21 (PTI): Asserting that terrorists have to be neutralised only through terrorists, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday said India will take "pro-active" steps to prevent a 26/11 type attacks hatched from foreign soil.

"There are certain things that I obviously cannot discuss here. But if there is any country, why only Pakistan, planning something against my country, we will definitely take some pro-active steps," he said at an event in New Delhi.

Speaking candidly, the Minister used the Hindi phrase "kante se kanta nikalna" (removing a thorn with a thorn) and wondered why Indian soldiers should be used to neutralise terrorists. He said the pro-active steps could include pressure tactics.

"We have to neutralise terrorists through terrorists only. Why can't we do it? We should do it. Why does my soldier have to do it?," he said adding that this issue cannot be discussed beyond this.

He was speaking at 'Manthan' conclave organised by news channel Aaj Tak and was replying to a question on what would be government's reaction if a repeat of Mumbai attacks or a Parliament attack takes place.

He said the best response would be to ensure it does not happen.

Meanwhile, he said the army has been given orders to neutralise infiltrators trying to enter India.

"I can only say that anyone trying to infiltrate will be neutralised," he said.

He also aid that a terrorist who comes with a gun cannot be lectured on human rights.

However, the Minister added that instructions have been given to take precaution that there is no "collateral damage" and that no Indian soldiers die.

"Take precaution there is no collateral damage. Don't touch civilians," he said.

Asked what has changed from the previous government's tenure, the minister said, "Porosity on borders is less; intelligence has improved".

Parrikar also said he will stand by the army at any cost if they are right.

Already our enemy is proclaiming all terrorist attacks on its soil are by a third party, hinting at India. Defence needs a careful diplomat, not a loud mouth who puts the security of the country in danger. Why should we publish our defence tactics even before they are used ?

Without commenting on what Mr. Parikkar said, I want to bring to the attention of DW readers, that some years back, in a meeting which was very largely attended, Mr. Bal Thackeray called upon Hindu boys who are prepared to die to counter the Muslim terrorists. They say, not even a single boy came forward and my friend was there till the end of the meeting. I heard the SS Supremo, did not get a single Hindu boy, till his death.

Again, I want to remind here, while Mr. Bal Thackeray was exhorting the boys, he was inside a bullet proof enclosure with his army of "Z" security surrounding the enclosure.

Indians are always thinking on Return of Investment...if someone invest's their life to fight terrorists, what will the govt give them in return? How will the govt reimburse their family if they die in battle? Will their family have to wait for minimum 20 years only to get a measly sum from govt while big politicians are raking in the millions? who will pay for their daughter's dowry when she is eligible to marry?

That is why it is better to think like gujarathis and marwadis, who will never join the armed forces and only get into business or share market, to make money, but still will want others to lay down their lives for them...

This kind of crap can be easily sold in India. What parrikar expects to do? Turning Taleban against LeT or ISIS against Taleban or Naxals? Such preposition can only be a fiction.
The alternate option is to use trained RAW agents to sabotage terrorists and their hide outs. But, Mr. Parrikar has already killed that option, terming such nation loving ready to die for country as terrorists. Give it a break. You are good to make money like Late Bangaru laxman, BJP president, caught red handed accepting bribe on defense deal.

He should have been more cautious in issuing press statements.
If our Defence Minister Parrikar says so, whenever Taliban targets in Pakistan, India will be blamed to gain sympathy, more terrorists will be created.
PM Modi is giving statements everywhere that he is for trying to improve ties with Pakistan.
Are these statements not contradicting one another? What is happening?

    Dear readers,

At a one meeting with former Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani, Late Bal Thackeray suggested that the Centre should seek the LTTE's cooperation in this connection. "The LTTE has adequate training to fight terrorism,".

As a evidence BJP formed coalition partner for with Pro-LTTE parties like PMK founder S Ramadoss,MDMK leader Vaiko and elected BJP MP Saraniya, a former commander of one of the most dreaded battalions of the United Liberation Front of Assam.

Whereas Ramdev's aide meets LeT founder Hafiz Saeed easy.but Minister of state for home Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary 'Don't Know Dawood Ibrahim's Location,' Says Government.
"They had promised that they will bring Dawood back. Now that the govt has completed one year, neither Dawood has come back, nor Ibrahim."

Now Saffron terror mastermind Aseemanand is granted bail,Sadhvi Pragya is line.Life convict Babu Bajrangi is freebird.while Pramod Mutalik can free to handover 'Trishuls'.

Sab Ka sath, sab ka vikas is reaching faster to dreaded criminals and terror.

Extremely nice step taken by the government.
Terrorists attack reduced to a larger extent.
Earlier always hearing bomb blasts occur simultaneously everywhere in India.
It means we knows very well how to tackle terrorists from every corner.
We should not bulge a inch from our neighbouring countries by any means.
Should teach them lesson from each and every angle.
