Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (RJP)

Mangaluru, May 22: Kevin Misquith, who took the Konkani music world by storm at the age of 17, is back with his new music album ‘Ek Geet’.  The album will be released on Monday May 25 at St Anne's mini hall at Capuchin Friary, Jail Road here at 4 pm.

With 34 successful music concerts and 4 super hit music albums in a very short span of time, Kevin undoubtedly stands out among the new generation of Konkani musicians.

His previous album ‘Thembe Thembe’ had received wide appreciation making it one of the most sought after albums in Konkani.

A pre-release preview of the album

‘Ek Geet’ promises to enthral the music lovers with a wide variety of songs. A number of talented artists have been brought together in the album to give life to lyrics written by poets Kishoo Barkur, Wilson Kateel, Sanjay Borkar and Kevin Misquith himself. Stephen Frank’s music arrangement for the songs in the album has taken these compositions to a new level.

The opening track of the album has a song called ‘Sukknea go’ written by Goan poet Sanjay Borkar and rendered by Munita Veigas . The poet brings out the essence of nature using ‘Sukkne’ (bird)as a simile.

Kishoo Barkur has done a wonderful job in penning ‘Yo Moga’ a melodious and romantic number sung by Prajoth D’sa.

‘Ek geet’, the title song has been written by Kevin Misquith and depict the passion of a music composer. The composer tells us how a composer should be and what he wants his music to be. The lyrics are thoughtful and passionate. This song is also a jungalbandi of classical and rock music for which Ashish Palanna has lent his vocals.

‘Oh baby’ is a very simple song. It has a catchy tune with equally catchy music and simple lyrics. The chorus of the song has a mix of 3 languages – Konkani, English and Hindi special. This is a romantic number written by Sanjay Borkar and rendered by Kevin Misquith.

The brilliant combination of Wilson Kateel’s lyrics and Kevin Misquith’s composition which worked well in the previous albums continues in this album too with the song ‘Aaz puni’. But this time it is not a romantic number but a sentimental one. It has been a long time since a heart breaking song was heard in Konkani. This is a song which will win the hearts of music lovers who like soft soothing numbers. Along with the brilliant lyrics and tune, the soulful music by Stephen stands out in this song. The music of violins, flute and saxophone drives a listener to a entirely different world with Clement Fernandes’s beautiful rendition .

The song ‘Nach tu nach’ written by Kevin Misquith, is a typical Mangalorean happy song with the message to live life full size. Mohammed Iqbal has sung this song in his witty style and no doubt this song will get the folks to the dance floor.

‘Ek glass beer’ is a peppy yet soothing song. Ek glass beer is one of those songs with different yet thought provoking lyrics written by Wilson Kateel. This song has been sung by Kevin Misquith.

‘Raath moni moni’ is a very soft song which appeared in Kevin’s album ‘He Jeenn.’ The unplugged version of this song sung by Eden D’sa is featured again in this album.

One more song ‘Baila Baila’ written by Wilson Kateel and sung by Prakash Mahadevan is a a pakka mangalorean country song which celebrates the beauty of typical Konkani tune and rhythm.

‘Ek Geet’ is the fifth album production by Kevin Misquith, Evershine creations has produced the album while Triad Creations has come forward to promote and market the album across the Konkani world. Loveline Rego and family, Muscat has been the major inspiration behind this album who supported Kevin to take up this project.

The album has been already released in Muscat and Saudi Arabia and will available in Mangaluru at regular outlets beginning next week. The album will be made available in different parts of the country and the world subsequently.

Daijiworld.com, Daijiworld 24x7 channel, and Daijiworld Weekly are the official media partners of the album.
