Bantwal: Overloading - 54 sand trucks confiscated at Soorikumeru

Bantwal, May 23: A team of policemen led by police circle inspector, Belliappa, confiscated 54 trucks which were found to be carrying sand in excess of permitted weight at Soorikumeru on national highway 75. These trucks were bound for other districts.

These sand trucks came from different locations like Adyar Mangaluru, Shambhur, Thumbe etc, and were carrying sand to districts like Mysuru and Bengaluru.The trucks which were taken into custody included longer ones with ten wheels.

The operation began on Friday evening. Belliappa said that cases would be registered against all the vehicles which were found to have been overloaded, on Saturday.

Town station police sub-inspector, Nandakumar, rural station sub-inspector, Rakshit A K, traffic station sub-inspector, Chandrashekharaiah, and Vittasl station sub-inspector, Prakash Devadiga, had taken part in the operation.
