Puttur: No sufficient time for repayment of loan - Farmer ends life

Daijiworld Media Network-Puttur (RJP)

Puttur, May 24: Only politicians are given time in this country for anything, it seems. Farmers’ deaths are very common here. Nobody cares about their plight. A farmer in Kalapparu near Shiradi has ended his life because he was not given sufficient time to repay his loan.

Padmayya Gowda (52) is the person deceased.

Padmayya decided to end his life on May 22 and consumed poison. He was rushed to a Mangaluru hospital immediately. But he did not live till he could be given treatment. Poor farmer breathed his last on the way.

Padmayya is survived by wife, son and daughter. He had one acre of rubber plantation where he cultivated and at times he worked in other farms for his livelihood. As he did not have surplus money, he took a loan in a local cooperative society for his daughter’s marriage.

It was a year since he availed the loan. He could not repay the loan as per the arrangement. He had received notice from the society regarding this. He requested them to give him more time to regularise the loan. But the society people looked at their ‘rulebook’ and said it was impossible as if only poor have rules in this country.

Padmayya did not find any way out from his problem. He decided to end his life.

Uppinangadi police have registered a case.

USELESS central govt.RSS-BJP has given 1billion$(Rs.6500 crore) of our money to distant Mongolia, similarly given crores of our money to nepal/bhutan/bangla but the modi doesn't have even Rs.5000/- for Indian farmer!!
*ACROSS the nation scores of farmers are tragically ending their life clearly seeing NO FUTURE under modi/BJP.
*YET this chaddy govt so heartless/co cruel/so shameless are spending 1000's of crores celebrating their 1 year of absolute pathetic rule.

    You are pathetic, Martin.
to blame everything on central government. What state government is doing?
You don't even understand the term 'Credit Line'. Direct money was not given to Mongolia.
Pathetic indeed. NO future in India. SO What is your plan?

Are you dumb or congressi? In your credit card if the credit limit is increased to 1 lakh rupees, so do you think bank has given you 1 lakh rupee? Mongolia's credit limit is now 1 billion.. doesnt mean he gave away 1 billion!... as and when they need it, they can opt for that loan and central govt will make allocations like world bank!,

and what has RSS got to do with farmers death!./... He died because, he cldnt repay his daughters marriage!... why because he was HINDU! there are NO SHAADI BHAGYAS for him!... he was forced to take loan from societies! and siddramayya boasts off farmers sarkara? congress did a mess for last 10 yrs or so and you will blame BJP for that period?!

The rules, norms are only meant for poor and common people. For the affluent, rich class people, there is a separate rules and law and even if they don't repay the loan amount,it is ok for them. But for poor/middle class all the rules and laws are applicable. How difficult the life of poor/middle class people in this world?.In this particular case, the poor farmer might have taken the loan for the genuine reason without any other options and could not repay on time but sincerely requested the officials concerned, but his plea has been sincerely denied by them stating the rules and norms, result is, he had to take this extreme step. Now from whom, they recover the loan amount?.Is there any other rule like prosecuting deceased family members to recover the money.Money and muscle power plays an important role nowadays in our society.Which is very dangerous than any other crimes and poisons/venoms.What I do at this critical juncture is to pray Almighty God to grant an eternal peace to the departed soul of Padmayya and give strength, tolerance and patience to the family members of Padmayya especially to his wife and children to bear this irreparable loss.RIP

The lender should be punished for improper sanction of loan without proper analysis. Strict guidelines should be framed and proper penalty should be imposed on the person responsible for sanction of loan, analysis and recommendation of loan. Advertisement for loans should be stopped

Siddharamaya cannot go to everyone's house and ask them to avail the facility of Shaadi Bhaagya. So the farmer should have think before ending his life. Here the cooperative society is responsible for his death.

Our Government or financial institution have separate rules for powerful....This farmer might have borrowed for his daughters marriage may be less than 5 lac rupees... but our politicians borrow in cores and they will not repay it and our Government or Financial institutions will not take any action against them i.e.Revealing more details about his assets and liabilities, Railway Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda asserted that he had borrowed Rs 15 crore in loans from four banks. Whether they are fit for 10 or 15 cores?????? This farmer took poison for may be less than 5 lac rupees loan but our MP is always smiling?????
