Mangalore, Apr 8: Three aircraft of ‘Surya Kiran’ aerobatic team of Indian Air Force presented an air show at Panambur beach on Sunday April 8 around 8 am.

Huge crowds gathered at the spot to watch the spectacular manoeuvres of the metal birds in the sky.

The beach had earlier been cleared of all stalls and eateries for this purpose. To prevent the presence of birds and the possible hazards that could have been posed by their flight, the crowds were not allowed to bring in any eatables at the venue.

This is the first air show which was organized in the city to commemorate the platinum jubilee celebrations of Indian Air Force. For the thousands of people who had gathered, the ambience of a carnival kind provided a real holiday diversion. Many of them who spoke Daijiword said they were lucky to watch a spectacle of this kind and wondered if they would ever get an opportunity of this kind again.

Suratkal MLA Krishna Palemar, Mangalore City Corporation Mayor Vijaya Arun, SK district commissioner Maheshwara Rao, western range IGP Satyanarayana Rao and headquarters assistant A G Bhat were present.

Wing Commander Sandeep Bansal was the Commanding Officer of the team consisting of 27 officers and 95 personnel.
