Kundapur, May 25: Muhammed Sahil (17), son of Abdul Rahman from Tekkatte Kannukere in the taluk went missing all of a sudden on the evening of Saturday May 23. He was a second PU student of SMS College, Brahmavar.

Family members said Sahil had left home on Saturday evening, telling them that he would be back after playing some cricket with friends nearby. He was not be seen thereafter, and reasonable searches did not throw any light on his whereabouts or plans.

Sahil happens to be a brilliant student, both in academic and extra curricular activities. At the time he was studying in Tekkatte Vishwa Vinayaka High School, he had earned 'Inspire Award', a national level award being given for excellent scientific models.

Immediately after the news of his disappearance spread, hundreds of worried people gathered in front of his house. Searches were conducted by individuals and groups all through night, but to no avail. When attempts to contact him over cell phone were made, it gave constant message that his cell phone was beyond the coverage area.

It is said when the family contacted customer care centre of Airtel, they were informed that the last time Sahil used his cell phone was to call a college friend from Honnala near Brahmavar.

Brahmavar police circle inspector, Arun Naik, and Kota station house officer, Basappa, rushed to the spot with police personnel, registered a missing case, and began investigation.
