Mangaluru, May 25: A private bus tilted to one side and fell into a roadside plantation in Moodbidri on Monday May 25 morning. The incident occurred on the national highway leading to Mangaluru from the town at Handelusuttu within Puttige gram panchayat limits.

The bus in question belongs to Canara Pinto Travels, and was moving on Mumbai-Mangaluru route. When negotiating Handelusuttu where the road has several curves, the driver lost control over the vehicle, after which the vehicle got tilted to one side before falling into the plantation.

As the bus had already offloaded passengers in the town and had only two passengers at the time of the accident, a possible catastrophe was averted, and no one was seriously injured in the accident. The locals helped a woman passenger to get out of the fallen bus.

As the bus fell into the plantation, two coconut trees which were standing on its way got uprooted and fell to the ground. Policemen from the town station rushed to the spot and conducted inspection. The bus suffered heavy damage in the accident.
