Mangaluru, May 25: Though the upcoming gram panchayat elections are not being held on party lines, the political parties are busy training guns at each other.

Addressing a press meet here on Monday May 25, district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai slammed the BJP and said that Congress has filed a complaint with the deputy commissioner against the BJP.

"Congress has filed a complaint with the DC against the BJP for violation of election model code of conduct for distributing pamphlets which list the achievements of one year of Modi-led government. This is a criminal offence."

Commenting on the union government, he said, "Where is the black money which was assured by Prime Minister Narendra Modi prior to the Lok Sabha elections? Why have fuel prices not reduced in spite of the reduction in the price of crude oil to 65 dollars a barrel in the international market ? When UPA was in power, the price of crude oil per barrel was 135 dollars, still the then government provided fuel for Rs 75."

Slamming BJP leader C T Ravi, Rai said "C T Ravi is misleading people by terming the free rice programme as that of the NDA government. He should answer as to why his party has not provided free rice in BJP-ruled states."

He also alleged that the union government is not sanctioning grants for various programmes introduced by the erstwhile UPA government.

Ibrahim Kodijal, Mithun Rai and others were present.
