Centre holds exhibitions in northeast to highlight achievements

Agartala/Guwahati, May 26 (IANS): To mark the completion of one year of the National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre, the information and broadcasting ministry is organising exhibitions across the northeastern states.

These exhibitions are meant to highlight the achievements, performance and initiatives of the BJP-led NDA government in the last one year.

The Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP) under the ministry is holding week-long exhibitions across the country titled 'Saal Ek Shuruaat Anek' (one year, many beginnings).

Union Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal inaugurated the exhibition in Gangtok (Sikkim), while union minister for Development of North Eastern Region Jitendra Singh unveiled a similar exhibition in Shillong (Meghalaya). Union minister of state for Sports and Youth Affairs Sarbandan Sonowal inaugurated the exhibitions in Agartala (Tripura) and Guwahati (Assam), a Press Information Bureau official said.

Union minister of state for home Kiren Rijiju opened the exhibition in Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh).

The official said that as part of this programme, DAVP is organising 60 static multimedia exhibitions in two phases -- May 26 to June 1 and June 8 to June 13.

"The DAVP is also deploying 345 mobile exhibition vans which will cover almost the entire country in a phased manner. All the exhibitions would explain the achievements, performance and initiatives of the NDA government in the last one year," the official added.
