Bengaluru, May 26: Beware! Check more than once when you buy branded clothes, especially those of reputed international brands, as they may well be fakes.

The Bengaluru Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths have arrested a 40-year-old man and recovered ready-made garments worth Rs 7.7 lakh that he was selling with the logo of international brands.

The fake branded clothes comprising ready-made shirts, trousers with labels of famous international brands were being sold by the accused to ready-made garment shops all over the city at throw-away prices.

US Polo, Tommy Hilfiger and Hollister were among the international labels with which the accused was selling ready-made garments.

The CCB police have arrested B S Mallikarjunaiah, a tailor by profession, for selling ready-made garments with labels of fake international brands.

The accused is believed to be a native of Tumakuru. The CCB police arrested the accused based on a tip-off and recovered clothes and stickers, labels and buttons totally valued at Rs 7.7 lakh.

The accused has been booked under Copyright Act and remanded to judicial custody.
