Mangaluru, May 26: Fire erupted at Kavitha Residency located at Urwa Stores here on Tuesday May 26 night, causing an estimated loss of Rs 3 lac.
The fire erupted in the exhaust air duct in the kitchen.
As soon the flames were noticed, workers as well as guests were evacuated and fire department was alerted. Also, workers themselves tried to extinguish the fire.
Two fire tenders from Kadri fire service arrived at the spot and managed to douse the fire. No casualties or injuries were reported.
The fire department officials said that exhaust air duct was not cleaned and oil stains had covered the duct. When the temperature increased in the kitchen, the duct caught fire and thick smoke started to billow out, the fire officials said.
The loss has been estimated upto Rs 3 lac.
Urwa police arrived at the spot and registered a case.
