Bantwal, May 27: Road users here, who had been accustomed to traffic snarls and jams since long, got some reprieve on Tuesday may 26, as the circle near BC Road bypass was cleared, and the new railway overbridge was opened for traffic on experimental basis.

Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, A B Ibrahim, had visited the town on Saturday and examined the situation. After holding consultations with officials of highway, PWD, revenue and police departments on Sunday, he had drafted a plan that would best suit the interests of the general public.

As a fallout of this initiative, the bypass circle at BC Road was removed, and traffic was temporarily allowed to move on the newly laid railway overbridge. The vehicles moving on Bengaluru highway from Mangaluru are now allowed to move on flyover. Dividers have been removed, and vehicles have been allowed to move to Dharmasthala and Panemangalore old town. After these moves were made, BC Road was devoid of traffic jam on Tuesday.

District in-charge minister, B Ramanath Rai, said that a meeting will shortly be convened after observing the response to this changed traffic movement system.

However, the overbridge is still incomplete, and protective sidewalls and some minor works remain to be undertaken.

Rakesh Shetty, people of Bantwal once gave chance to Mr. Nagarah Shetty. Later people came to know that he is useless and in next election they put him in Municipality Dabbi.

At long last completion of the MEGA project will bring relief to the travelers!!

BTW, the bus stand remains the same as 25 years ago catering to a small population of people! At least then there was a beautiful bus shelter in the middle, today people have to get into shops or below the bridge to protect themselves from rain and sun!! It is utter chaos and mess with the dangerous slope making it dangerous for the elderly and kids traverse!! When are we going to get a decent bus stand!!

The ''Accident Zone'' board is not there because the zone is under Janardhan Poojary. Should there be an accident (God forbid), you should be knowing why and whom to blame?

    Guys
I have seen and driven on neatly finished flyovers at Kottara, Kulur and Kunitkan where the rebars are protruding even today after so many years of public use and on the highways and Shiradi. Please do not get exited in giving me a rebut, I know how they finish work in India. If you drive any small wheel cars, you can only dare to step your wheel out of the asphalt with the elevation they give from the sideways. Road ithnda footpath ijji, footpath ithnda charandi ijji, finally Telcom & MEscom will come with their Pikkas to see, where can we put this.

Why can't we complete the job and then open the road? Whole Flyover at BC road is abomination done without any planning, destroying businesses, affecting traffic, safety of pedestrians.
