FBI probes bomb threat against flight from Taiwan

Washington, May 27 (IANS): The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has opened an investigation into a bomb threat to a flight between Taiwan's capital Taipei and Los Angeles, where the airplane landed without incident, Efe news agency reported on Wednesday.

FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said the threat was made by telephone and that several FBI agents went to the Los Angeles International Airport to meet the flight.

The EVA Air flight from Taiwan landed in Los Angeles on Tuesday afternoon on a runway normally reserved for planes in difficulty.

All passengers were disembarked before FBI agents and the Los Angeles Police Department bomb squad inspected the aircraft.
