Mangaluru, May 27: As curtains fell on campaigning for the gram panchayat elections, BJP district president, Prathap Simha Nayak on Wednesday May 27 expressed confidence that a majority of the people would favour BJP in the polls.

Addressing a press meet at the district BJP office here, he said, "We are hopeful that people will choose a majority of BJP-backed candidates in the gram panchayat polls. BJP has done good campaigning."

He further said, "A Congress minister had said that Modi magic will not work in the gram panchayat polls. I want to ask him - will people support thee sleeping Siddaramaiah government?

"A recent survey done by a media showed that 91% of the people are satisfied with the Modi-led administration at the center. But in the state, 98% are not satisfied with the Siddaramaiah-led government. This indicates that people will favour BJP in the gram panchayat polls," he added.

"We welcome the state government's move of handing over the lottery scam probe to the CBI. But Siddaramaiah's government wakes up from sleep only when it gets a slap from the opposition," he said.

He also alleged that even the lottery scam was taking place with the state government's 'endorsement' and this was an 'open secret'. "From past two years several mafias like sand, timber and land mafia are thriving in the state," he said.

"The Congress government is interfering in police department's affairs from Bengaluru to every rural corner in the state. Even this lottery scam has taken place with it's involvement," he alleged.

"People have lost faith in this state government. This will have an impact on the gram panchayat polls," he added.

Praising BJP MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, he said as per a report by a Kannada daily, Nalin Kumar stands first in terms of utilizing MP funds for development works. "The district BJP congratulates the MP on this," he added.

To a question on the complaint filed against the BJP for violating poll code, he said, "The district administration has issued a notice, and we will answer it. We have not violated the law."

Capt Ganesh Karnik, Kumble Sundar Rao and others were present.

when congress ruled atleast people were kind of happy.even poor people had food in their plates.Business was good, specially land trading and real estate.Women and kids were protected.Tax was low...now BJP has ruined this economy and blaming previous govt?Delhi can afford lowest tariff for water and electricity bill and here we suffer.I think in the ventral there will be congress rule next time for sure.I am a investor and I lost 40. percent of my money due to fall in prices in the land.People will choose wisely this time and no one is foolish to elect BJP.Unless people choose more suffering and problems and no solution.

One thing for sure majority of our Hindu brothers & sisters will not vote for Congress, we have enough feed back and proof of this. Congress will have to depend on minority Muslim & Christian votes.
Bhagya's only don't get you votes, this has been proved in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. CM Siddu Govt will be tested in this election, although these Gram Panchayat elections are not fought on party line. But the parties will support certain candidates.
    May the best candidate win.

K'Nataka is one state very different in South as the Socialist forces & thinking still prevalent in rural & interiors, thats why Janata Parivaar still flourishes like in UP, Bihar, MP etc..

Now coming to reality, all of us know opposition gifted rule to Congress due to heavy split...if Yeddy, BSR, JD(S) had joined hands with BJP prior to elections, result would been different..so there
