Mumbai, May 27: Veteran actress Rekha who was cast for the role of the grief-stricken and quite eccentric Mrs Havisham in almost completed movie Fitoor, it seems has backed out after watching the whole film, as she is exceedingly unhappy with her look.
Film critic Rajeev Masand, tweeted, "JUST IN: Tabu replaces Rekha as the Miss Havisham character in Great Expectations adap Fitoor starring Aditya Roy Kapoor & Katrina Kaif." Abhishek Kapoor reportedly said, "It is entirely our loss to have missed this chance to work with the legendary Rekhaji, and I hope to work with her in the future. Rekha came to the conclusion that she is not looking good on screen and that no re-shoot can salvage it. She therefore decided to exit the project. The producers won't be taking any legal action against the veteran actress."
Rekha was unable to accommodate the dates for the re-shooting schedule worked out by Abhishek Kapoor, and so the makers approached the very talented Tabu to carry the mantle in her stead. Tabu, reportedly has accepted, and will soon begin shooting for the same. Tabu's performance in her recent movie - Haider garnered the actress a lot of rave reviews for her performance as Hamlet's mother - Gertrude.
Rekha had spoken to Abhishek Kapoor after watching the final rushes and had expressed her displeasure with her final look. Abhishek though quite pleased with the way things were in the movie, acceded to Rekha's views and agreed to re-shoot the sequences that the actress didn't like. They apparently tried to work out different dates to re-shoot the parts pointed out by Rekha, but the re-shoot clashed with Rekha's professional commitments.
