Udupi: Man dies as walls of well cave in

Udupi, May 28: A man died when a well caved in suddenly on Thursday, May 28 at Shedimane near Kappettu in Ambalpady, Udupi.

The deceased person is Santhosh Hegde (47) , a migrant worker. He was doing ring work in the well with four other labourers when the well caved in. Others were saved as they were not involved in the ring work inside the well when the accident took place.



Fire brigade team, ambulance and Malpe police rushed to the spot. When Santosh was taken to the hospital, doctor declared that he was brought dead.

The water in the well was around only one foot height. The soil was smooth due to recent rains which caused the sliding , it is said.

A case is yet to be filed  at Manipal police station.
