Youth from Bantwal dies in car accident in Muscat

Bantwal, May 29: A youth from Bantwal died in a car accident in Muscat, Oman where he was working. The accident took place on Thursday May 28.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Mustafa (28), son of the late Abdul Ghani of Perlia near BC Road.

Mustafa was employed in a hospital in Muscat and had visited his hometown here six months ago on vacations. He was on his way for some urgent work by car when the accident took place, sources said.

Mustafa's father Abdul Ghani passed away about three months ago. Mustafa's elder brother Abdul Lateef passed away due to illness about five years ago. Only his mother and sister reside in the house at Perlia now, it is learnt.

As soon the locals heard the sad news on Thursday night, they visited the family's house and consoled Mustafa's mother and sister.

It is not yet known whether the funeral would be held in Muscat or the mortal remains brought here.

    Such kind of incidents are daily occurrences in Oman.As in this case most of the accidents in Oman involve localities and most of the times taxi drivers. Most of the accidents are due to the use of cell phones. Its impossible to concentrate on the road if we use cell phones. Most of the vehicles run at nearly 120kmph and accident at this speed kills for sure. In the above picture a taxi is involved in the accident. Taxies are the major cause of road accidents in Oman. Omani Traffic are trying their best but they need to tighten their grip on taxis which are proving to be killing machined in Oman these days. Also my humble request to all the car owners is don't use cell phones when driving, don't driven when you are exhausted, don't drive used the influence of alcohol, if you need to attend a call pull out the car to the side and turn on the hazard light. Its best to keep the phones on silent when driving. And lastly follow the traffic rule. They might cost you time but you can not only save your life but also the life of others around you.

    RIP my brother. Very sad incident to loose a youngster at this age who is the sole breadwinner for the family after the loss of his father and brother. May his soul rest in peace and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
