Poll official asks CM to show ID proof; voter dies at polling booth in Bantwal

Mysuru, May 30 (DHNS): Chief Minister Siddaramaiah exercised his franchise for the gram panchayat polls at his native village, Siddarmanahundi, on Friday.

His response to the booth officer, who sought identification card from him, “I am my own identification”, drew bursts of laughter. He also told the official that he hailed from the same village and his name was listed, with picture, in the voter’s list. The official who verified the identity, then allowed the CM to vote. More than 13,300 candidates are in the fray for GP polls in Mysuru district. The district administration put the voters’turnout at 85 per cent. The polling was by and large peaceful.

This one example itself shows how arrogant illiterate is our CM. It would have been an applaudable gesture if the CM had shown some identification proof the official.

Anyways thank God, Congi goons did not beat up the booth official.

Poll Booth Officer is right in asking the CM to show his ID proof, every one is same in the eyes of law and it is applicable in these situations. The polling Booth Officers are trained to do the election duty. And here the officer has done his duty.

Secondly these politicians know the loopholes in law. neither we too can blame them, as we too live in that system.

What an example is being set by CM for others to follow? He is first a citizen of this country and then a CM of the state. He should have behaved in a more responsible way and carried an ID proof to be produced on request. It is only in India that rules are different for different people. Sorry that we are being ruled by these kind of uncultured politicians.

CM Siddu didnt behave properly and the people who laughed at CM's comment 'I am my own identification' are none but crude chelas!. I condemn his behaviour. Some one please show the pictures of Obama despite being the President humbly and dutifully shows his ID card to polling officials who dont even stand for him. Can the candidates in KPSC and other examms say the same without showing the ID card!?
