Mangaluru, May 31: Eden Aquatic and Sports Foundation organized a district-level swimming competition at Eden Aquatic and Sports Club here on Sunday May 31.

Deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim inaugurated the competition by lighting the lamp.

Addressing the gathering, Ibrahim said, "May the young swimmers achieve great heights in the sport in future. Karnataka state has produced several champions in swimming. I wish a bright future fo these swimmers."

Commander Masacarenhas said, "This event has been organized to encourage young and budding swimmers." He congratulated all the swimmers who took part in the event.

Nigam Vasani, president of KCCI, wished all success to the young swimmers.

Ram Mohan Maroor, vice president of KCCI, Sudhir Jalan, secretary of Eden Aquatic and Sports Foundation were also present on this occasion.

Manohar Prabhu who secured the first place, Nevil Mascaranehas, who came second and Sai Karan who bagged the third place in individual swimming competition were honoured by the DC.

More than 280 swimmers from various places participated in the event.

Speaking to daijiworld.com, Ivan Pinto, chairman of Eden Aquatic and Sports Foundation, said, "There are many talented children in Mangaluru. This is a platform for them to showcase their talents. We are also organizing competitions like chess, table tennis, ball badminton , quiz etc. We also organize summer camps."
