Mangaluru, Jun 2: Scores of well-wishers, police personnel and friends on Tuesday June 2 gathered at the premises of armed reserve police commissioner's office to pay their respects to retired DySP B J Bhandary, who died in an accident at Brahmavar on Monday June 1.

Bhandary's mortal remains were brought to the city and kept for public viewing at the armed reserve police commissioner's office.

Retired police officers' association general secretary Manjunath said, "B J Bhandary was the president of retired police officers' association in 2014. We were with him. He fought for the retired police officers' welfare. We are not in a position to do anything as one of our men has left us. He had attended an exam last week and he had studied labour law also.

"He fought for canteen facility and Arogya Bhagya for retired police officers. He worked hard day and night. Nobody can fill the void he has left behind. Yesterday he had visited the our retired police officers' office and then went to Bramhavar for a programme," he added.

Deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim, IGP Amrit Paul, police commissioner S Murugan, SP Dr Sharanappa, ADC Sadashiva Prabhu, retired DySp Sharif, retired ASI Abbas, retired SP Mitra Peraje, retired SP Harishchndra, retired SP Punja, retired DySp M N Shetty and many others paid their respects.

The mortal remains were taken to Bhandary's house in Padil and then to Nandigudda for the final rites.

Bhandary, who joined the police department in 1979, was serving Mangaluru district crime intelligence bureau in the capacity of deputy superintendent of police at the time of retirement in 2011. He had joined the department after completing BA LLB degree courses. He had served in places like Mandya, Bengaluru, and Chikkamagaluru, and his postings included to intelligence department and Lokayukta. He had been honoured with chief minister's medals in 1991 and 2007, besides President's Medal in 2011.

Bhandary had served the interests of retired government officials by becoming the founder president of Retired Police Officers Welfare Association. Many people who approached him for help easily got what they wanted as Bhandary tirelessly worked with government departments to help them, locals said. Even after retirement, Bhandary continued to appear for examinations including an examination on labour laws about six months back, to satiate his hunger for knowledge.

Bhandary was serving as president of Muneshwara Mahaganapati Temple in Mangaluru and as an office bearer of a temple committee in Barkur, Udupi district.

    reckless driving

i have been giving driving test for the last one year in gulf but they failed me again and again for simple mistake.

this makes me to realize how difficult and how responsible i have to be to drive vehicle.

but in India you throw money you will get license and you drive like fovol to kill someone.
