Bantwal, Jun 2: A person got trapped in the rubble of a protective wall which came crashing down due to the force of rainwater at Adyanadka in the taluk on Monday June 1. He suffered injuries. As the wall came crashing on his house, he also suffered loss of five lac rupees by way of damage to house and household items, it is gathered.

Mohan Acharya from Adyanadka was injured in this incident. He is being treated in a hospital at Puttur. His house is located in a low-lying area adjacent to Adyanadka town. He had built a protective wall as a safety measure to protect his house his house from getting affected by landslide.

After heavy rain lashed the region on Monday morning, water got accumulated and gushed down the low-lying area in which his house is located. Sensing danger, Mohan immediately got to work towards ensuring that water does not reach his protective wall. However, bricks, mud etc started to fall from the wall due to the force of water, as a result of which Mohan got trapped among a heap of rubble.

As falling stones, bricks etc hit his house with force, the walls of the house, equipment, and utensils inside the house suffered heavy damages. His father, elder sister, and brother-in-law, who were inside the house at the time however, escaped unhurt.
