Tumakuru, Jun 2: The policemen who conducted preliminary inquiry into the deaths of two persons in a hospital here on the night of Friday May 29 believe that their deaths were caused by the inhalation of carbon monoxide released by the generator at the hospital.

Nandeesh from Hatna village near K B Cross in Tiptur taluk had admitted his wife into Akshaya Hospital in Ashok Nagar here for delivery. Her delivery was a smooth affair. At night, after the town came under the spell of strong wind and heavy rain, Nandeesh went with his relative, Rangaraj from Adalagere, to sleep in the labour ward of the hospital.

Within two hours since they went there to sleep, both had died. Their mysterious deaths had proved to be a challenge for the hospital staff and general public. Both did not show any symptoms of having been attacked, nor had they consumed poison. Both were in the same position when they went to bed.

On Saturday morning, district superintendent of police, Kartik Reddy, assistant superintendent of police, Laxman Tilakpark, police circle inspector, Balegowda, and New Extension station's sub-inspector, Siddaraju, visited the spot and took up investigation.

Initial assessment of policemen is that their deaths would have been caused because of inhalation of carbon monoxide. Bodies have been sent to the district hospital for postmortem. The report is likely throw more light on what had happened.
