Doha, Jun 2: In the second Qalco floodlit tournament 2015, Qalco just managed to defeat M Pallonji by 3 wickets. At the thrilling fight finals Fawad Rana, managing director of Qatar Lubricants Co (QALCO) was the chief guest and guests of honour were Shahid Iqbal Chaudhary, operations manager of Qalco and Syed Adil Anis from Houston, Texas.
Winning the toss Qalco elected to field. Captain Shahid Iqbal had the wicket of opener Faraz on the very first ball being caught by Buddika. Thereafter M Pallonji never recovered and constantly lost wickets and finally could only manage 73 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in the allotted 12 overs. Dixit was the top scorer being run out for 21 runs which included 2 boundaries. Razik was the only other batsman to reach double figures scoring 17 runs with a six and a boundary. Suminda bowled excellently claiming 3 wickets and giving away only 2 runs which earned him the man of the finals award. Shahid, Buddika, Tharraka and Jonty took a wicket each.
In reply Qalco began well and were 43 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the first six overs. Thereafter excellent bowling and fielding by M Pallonji saw Qalco struggling and they needed 14 runs of the last 3 overs. Neeraj bowled well in the 10th over giving away only 4 runs. Fawaz in the 11th over claimed a wicket giving away 6 runs , Chidananda bowling the last over had the wicket of captain Shahid on the very first ball caught by Dixit taking a diving catch for a duck, next ball gave away only a single and the third ball was a dot ball. However Hilmi hit the next ball for a six. Qalco just managed to score 78 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 11.4 overs.
Prashant, Ibrahim, Razik, Dixit, Imran, Faraz and Chidananda took a wicket each.
Aftab was not out on 16 runs, Hilmi 12 runs not out while Tharaka was 11 runs not out.
