Puttur, Jun 3: Although the government has issued order banning movement of all kinds of vehicles on Shiradi Ghat stretch of highway 75 in view of road development works in progress, it is gathered that some vehicles have been making use of this road at night.

After complaints were received that vehicles are being allowed to violate the traffic ban at night, locals waited at the highway, stopped vehicles which approached Shiradi Ghat road at night, and sent them back. Locals have alleged that vehicles are being allowed by the concerned who open the gates for these vehicles after collecting money from the drivers.

Local people said that many trucks had been sent back on Monday night. Policemen have been informed about this traffic violation. Some said that policemen had been sounded about this transgression sometime back, after noticing that vehicles had been using this road at night, but they had not taken any steps.
