Omni hits parked truck - two injured, one seriously

Mangaluru, Jun 4: A Maruti Omni van hit a truck that had been parked by the side of national highway 66 near Pavanje in the taluk on Wednesday June 3. In this accident, Prathiksha Pai (18), and her father, Jagadish Pai (53) from Katapadi were injured.




Jagadish Pai was driving the van at the time of the accident. The nature of injuries suffered by his daughter is said to be critical. Both the injured were admitted into a private hospital in Mangaluru.

The truck that was moving towards Udupi had been parked by the roadside a few minutes before the accident. Jagadish Pai had taken his daughter, who has passed second PU, for getting her admitted into an engineering college near Konaje. The duo was returning after completing admission formalities, it is said.

The Omni was badly mangled in the accident. A case stands filed in Mulky police station.
