Kundapur: Tipper rams into two-wheeler - Hotel manager dead

Kundapur, Jun 4: One person was killed after a tipper rammed into his two-wheeler near Shastri circle here on Thursday June 4.

The deceased has been identified as Narasimha Aithal (48), son of Yogish Aithal, and resident near Unity Hall, Ankadakatte, Koteshwar.

It is learnt that both the tipper and the two-wheeler were moving towards Koteshwar. Near Shastri circle, the tipper driver rammed into Aithal's two-wheeler from behind.

Aithal who was seriously injured was rushed to hospital, but breathed his last on the way.

Aithal was a manager of a hotel in Kundapur. It is said that he recently built a new home and the house warming ceremony was scheduled for June 12. He is survived by is wife and daughter.

The accident resulted in a traffic jam at the spot.

The tipper driver escaped soon after the accident.

Kundapur traffic police have registered a case.

    one thing i do not understand is most of the accidents "Driver escapes immediately after the accident". whatever it is he is caught, why to flee??

    Because of our corrupt traffic department all these accidents are happening. These Tipper drivers are paid per trip, so they drive speed to earn money and they knew that their trucks are too strong and nothing will happen to them. It is must to install 60km/h speed limit on all these tippers to avoid killing two wheel riders.

    Tippers ramming into other vehicles is a common occurrence. There uses to be an accident every day but now these have gone up to two a day and sometimes three a day.

    It is time that tippers are fitted with speed governors.

    Very sad.RIP.. May god give the strength to deceased family to bear the their dear ones loss.

    Birth and death is in the hand of Almighty God, yet our NH 66 is well known for accidents that too spots like Shasthri circle, Bobbaryakatte, Mooru kai circle, koteshwara junction so on which mostly crowded place and vehicles are plying on high speed where at least to be proper traffic system or Police personnel should take care else these sort of accidents every other day will become common.

    Average 2 youths dying everyday from Kundapur to Mangalore Highway stretch (100 km) by 2 wheelers. That is to say more than 7 local youths dying every of 1 km stretch every year. 2 wheeler makers are bothered? Where we are heading?

    Dear Friends

    Our police / Govt. are not able to find solution for preventing innocent death or our highway 66. We have to unite keeping away our so called communal difference for vote bank, and please DK and Udupi peoples join together and barricade the highway from Kundapur till talapady, until we find the prevention for accidents and to save innocent riders unfortunate death. please.
