Mangaluru: Man dies after falling into river at Maravoor

Mangaluru, Jun 5: A man died after the bike he was riding fell into the river at Maravoor bridge under Bajpe police station limits here late night on Thursday June 4. The incident came to light on Friday June 5 after the body was found floating in the river.

The deceased has been identified as Lokesh (28), a resident of Nelliteertha, Bajpe.

It is suspected that late night on Thursday, Lokesh might have lost control over his bike near Maravoor bridge and fallen into the river. It had rained on Thursday and the roads were slippery.

He was riding towards Mangaluru when the accident took place. When he did not reach home at night, his worried family began searching for him.

Lokesh was a tailor working in a shop at Ambikanagar near Sunkadakatte, Bajpe. On Thursday, he left from work early saying that he had visit someone. 

He was among the four sons and three daughters of the late Babu Gowda and Lalitha.

Bajpe police along with traffic police arrived at the spot. A large number of locals also gathered. The bike as well as the body were retrieved from the water.
