Bantwal: Youngster arrested on rape attempt charges

Bantwal, Jun 5: Police personnel of Vittal station arrested a youth and produced him in the court on Thursday June 4 relating to an incident in which he had pulled a minor girl by hand and tried to rape her.

Harish (19) from Golitottu in Alantaya village near Vittal was arrested in this connection. Harish works as an electrician along with a relative in the region. Some days back he had come in contact with a 15-year-old girl from Netlamudnoor village.

On Tuesday June 2, Harish reportedly pulled at the hand of the girl at Anantady Cross Road and tried to rape her, it was alleged in a complaint filed in Vittal police station.

Under the direction of assistant superintendent of police, Rahul Kumar, the accused was charged with offences under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act as the girl happens to be a minor, and also under provisions of caste abuse, and arrested from Uppinangady on Thursday morning. He was produced in the court thereafter.
