Mangaluru, Jun 6: In connection with an incident in which Ranjith (21) from Ullal Mogaveerapatna was chased and murdered with sharp weapons near taluk panchayat office here on June 3. the policemen have taken into custody Dhanu, who is the main accused, and are interrogating him. Dhanu, it is said, was a close friend of the victim.

The police personnel have got information that a couple of others were also involved with this murder, in addition to Dhanu. They are making efforts to trace and take them into custody.

Ranjith, who had been stabbed with a sharp object, had tried to flee from the attackers, and had died after collapsing near the taluk panchayat canteen here. Deep stab injuries were found near his right armpit and left side of his back.

When he collapsed, a person had approached him, questioned about who had attacked him, and recorded his response in a mobile phone, the footage of which was later collected by the police. Ranjith had revealed then that a person named Dhanu from Kandak had attacked him with a knife, it is learnt.
