Why no special trains introduced on Mangaluru-Bengaluru route, asks HC

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jun 6: The state high court (HC), on Friday June 5, wanted to know why special trains should not be run between Mangaluru and Bengaluru to handle passenger pressure and closure of Shiradi Ghat stretch of the national highway between the two cities due to ongoing repairs and improvements.

A HC division bench comprising ad hoc chief justice of the HC, Justice S K Mukherjee, and Justice Ram Mohan Reddy, has asked the railways department to come out with a reply within a week. The bench had taken up for hearing a public interest litigation filed by Bengaluru-based advocate from the city, Lata Ramesh, and S Pradip Kumar kalkura, issued this order.

"Repair works at Shiradi Ghat stretch might take six months time to complete. On the line of the practice of introducing special trains during summer season presently in vogue, why special trains should not be introduced between these two important cities? Have the passengers not been faced with the ordeal of having to undertake journey of 10-12 hours now?" the bench asked the advocate representing the railways.

The advocate said he would get back by the next hearing after consulting the railways.

The petitioners had drawn the attention of the HC towards the fact that the Shiradi Ghat portion of the highway between the two cities had been closed since January 2 this year, and that passengers are facing hardships to travel between the cities on regular basis. They also said six alternative routes between these two cities suffer from lack of basic facilities including restrooms.

Raghu, Had Britain not rules India what India would have been today? Rail connectivity in Mangalore was established in 1907, Konkan railway started in 1991. It took nearly 80 years for train to move towards Udupi and Kundapur! Why blame British?? Had they ruled India another three decades, Indian roads and trains would have seen better days and better quality!! They brought India under one map, and left most valuable English language which opened the world for Indians!1 Look ...many countries in the world are still struggling for English fluency! British have done some bad too...! Simply blaming them for everything after 60 years is stupidity!!
Everyone knows bus lobby is preventing frequent and short railway route between capital and Mangalore!!

Response to your earlier post below :

Ah ha Lokesh, so you do understand the value of 'making this country better than blaming the British'. Atta boy, going forward do refrain from stating ' Don't talk about skill if that is not utilized and British utilised that skill but Indians don't know they have it.' ( quote from your Sunday June 07th . I thought you were and Englishman condemning us Indian's. For a moment though, I wondered if Lokesh is an english name ???.. but thing change with times you see.
So rather than spitting on your own face, go and question the authorities and tell us what you have contributed to making the system in India better than comparing Britain or Singapore.

    Raghu Mlore.
I think you are missing the point here.
Why do you blame Brits now?
Take a example of Singapore. Even Malaysia was the British Colony for years and Singapore was part of Malaysia.
Malaysia got independent later than India and later Singapore was separated from Malaysia.
See the difference between India and Singapore.

So don't give crap. Its the truth that we Indians dont have the guts to develop ourselves.

Anil, I am a proud Indian and am trying my best to improve India as we have been looted for several centuries by various invaders. In addition, I don't want India to be compared to some other nations standards. We will do and move it at our own pace. We have our own identity, culture and an ocean to boot.. India is going to survive 'yuge yuge', so why should this small speck of time make me hate my country. We'll fix it in our own time and there is no need for us to use another country as a yard stick. Is it wrong for me to love my country for what it is ?. Is it wrong for me to protect from backstabbers who bad mouth us ?.

If they run daily 10 trains also, they will run with full. But these state and central Govt both are looters. They are getting enough commission from running buses between BLR-IXE.
We are just fool that we believe in them while they make thousands of fake promises. We citizens are divided with believing these politician's words. If we were UNITED against these politicians or any political party and fight against them sure we can make better INDIA. Unfortunately we became the voting machine. after the election no value for that. When any one who voted against the ruling parties corruption schemes and raise the voice against, the people becomes against that voice who voted for the ruling party. They dont think about the fact. They just fight with each others. They forgets that its our right to stand against corruption.
We need to be united and fight against this corruptions. forget about your cast religion or color. This is only the weapons of this corrupt politicians. We dont need that. We are INDIANS. Thats all. We want beautiful india.

I was reading all comments by our readers. I want to put some points as to why there are no special Trains/Daily trains between Bengaluru - Mangaluru.

Please note we can run 10 trains from Mangaluru till Subramanys road and 10 trains from Bengaluru till Sakhleshpur. The issue is between Sakleshpur and Subramanya Road. This is where the actual issue is. HRMDC I,e Hassan Mangalore Railway Development Corporation. This was done during Guage coversion and HRMDC was formed which is PPP. In this contract is done that max 4 passenger trains can run in a day and only 1 night train and 20 Freight Trains. Contract is for 32 yrs and as of today 14 yrs have passed. They are not allowing any new passenger trains to run. This many might not be knowing. Mallikarju Kharge wanted to run the Mangalore - Kachguda train though this line but HRMDC didn't agree. There are severe restrictions in this line. The only option is to scrap the HRMDC which will be very expensive considering breaking the contract else going dor doubling which will cost around 3500 crores and getting approval from Environment Ministry. When this contract was done none of our Politicians didn't read the fine points and none were against the contract.Pls note this is one of the reason why a day train which was announced by Sadanand Gowda has not yet in operation (Kudla Express). I call all our Politicians irrespective of the party to come out and support for additional trains, Scrapping of HMRDC which should be on top priority else nothing is going to happen for the next 18 yrs on this line.

Looks like the crusade brigade is backing up the British again. I guess they have never read any book on how Britan played India as a means to their end. Not only the railways, the taxation system , border divide and every thing that we can think off was manipulated by them. Crusade Brigade is all about 'they gave us' and point to English language, discipline etc. Missionaries joined hands with the British and opened schools in the guise of 'teaching us' but with an agenda to make us a work force for the British. The exclusive schools for the British taught them how to mananage the tribal ( pagan) lot for their benefit. Indians were never allowed to such institutions. So for Jacob to go ranting is nothing new. I should think that we should let him jump around and tighten our resolve tacitly. We (Indians) should vow to eradicate such thought going forward.

Raghu, I dont know whether I should laugh or cry for your comment. We Indians have a habit of boasting everything like 81% scientists in NASA are Indians, 90% doctors in the USA are Indians, 75% companies in Silicone Valley is owned by Indians. Even Indian cricketers dont like criticism. It is in our blood. We want just praise. What do you do if you grab someone's territory to snatch everything, will you leave anything?? British did not come to India to grab Land but India's countless Kings with enmity among them helped British to make that happen. I am sure you know the history. Blaming British now is like Muslims blaming America for everything. Its more than 60 years since British left and we still were not able to modernise that railways that they left. We still almost follow their constitution, education system, dress code. Why cant you go back and wear Khadi? Bring back Sati, Balya vivah and so many social order that British prohibited? Infact, it is British that United this country you call India today. No Indian ruler ruled Kashmir to Kanyakumari. We should accept the reality and the reality is that though British looted India, they did introduced a lot of things even if you say it was for their administrative purpose.

Lokesh, you don't need to laugh or cry, shutting up would be fine. For your information it was not the British who fought against Sati, child marriage and other societal issues that plagued Indian's. You are giving undue credit to the British.. haven't you heard of Ram mohan roy and several others that fought hard to abolish such practice ?. Remember India was controlled by the 1% of the one percenters.. it was a small set of folks that ran pieces of this land, so 60 years is a small time frame compared to the hundreds of years of 'your' British looting this land. You are a pig headed to be in awe of these looters. Your statement to revert back to the wearing Kadhi and bringing back sati.. how about going back to wearing leaves or perhaps nothing.. what timeframe are you holding India to?. We humans deal with situation that are presented to us, from your statement if we need to go back to kadhi or leaves then we need to revert all that is non Hindu ??.. what fanatical thought do you have? .. what is next blame Indian for having a thousand gods ???

Second thing, don't teach me Indian history. You might not even read any history books. I know all the names you mentioned but you forgot that those people educated under British system and even studied in England then came back to India to fight against those system. You're one of those roughs who blame someone for your shortcoming. Work had to make this country better rather blaming everything on someone who left this country 60 years ago. Try to live in the present. Can you tell me why we cant increase the frequency of the trains now? Need permission from British government?
