Udupi, Jun 6: The new well lit Gundibailu to Ambagilu road constructed under the second phase of the Nagarothana project was inaugurated by Udupi MLA Pramod Madhwaraj on Friday June 5.




The government has sanctioned Rs 4.69 crore towards the project.

Criticizing the BJP government Madhwaraj said, "Udupi stands first in developmental works. The previous government restricted themselves to only announcing plans but not to executing any of them. CM Siddaramaiah government initiated their plans by sanctioning funds. Drinking water supply project has taken off in the district. "The MLA will provide 24x7 drinking water to Udupi under Kundsemp Project with Rs 35 crore and the government will release Rs 55 crore for drainage on the recommendation of district-in-charge minister Vinaykumar Sorake.

The MLA further said, "We will ensure regular supply of power except during the monsoons as per the order of the fuel energy minister Shivakumar. We will focus on raising the standard of living for the poor. A proposal for the release of Rs 30 crore has been sent to fund the third phase of the Nagarothana project for Udupi."

The concerned authority has discussed improvements to be made in Udupi town, Malpe and Manipal bus stand. The preliminary survey process is complete. There is need for construction of 2 bus stands for 30 buses under Nerm Project and the MLA has assured that work on the pending works will begin soon.

The CMC commissioner D Manjunathaiah delivered the key note address and the CMC president P Yuvaraj welcomed the gathering. Janardhan Bhandarkar delivered the vote of thanks. Prashant Shetty compered the program.

Vice-president Amrithakrishnamurthy and all city municipality council members were present at the occasion.
