102-year-old GP member joins Congress, eyes prez post

Hanur, Jun 8 (DHNS): Gouthamamma, a 102-year-old woman from Doddalatturu near here in Chamarajanagar district, who tasted victory in her maiden electoral foray in the recently concluded gram panchayat elections, has joined Congress in the presence of District In-charge Minister H S Mahadev Prasad at Male Mahadeshwara Hills on Sunday.

The centenarian urged the minister to suggest her name for the president’s post of the gram panchayat.

Reacting to her request, the minister said that an appropriate decision will be taken after the reservation list for the president and vice president posts is announced. In the panchayat elections, the grand old lady of Doddalatturu had bagged 354 votes and defeated her nearest rival Neelamma by a margin of 160 votes.

Most unfortunate thing of our democratic system. Being in such a old age what can people expect from her as public servant? This post will be a rubber stamp .......Election commission of India of this modern century must think of benchmarking the candidates on the basis of Age and Educational qualifications of all kinds of elections in the country "if election really meant for electing right representatives of the society" .

The wise old lady has seen a lot in the past century....and she is wise enough through her experience to know that BJP did nothing during Indian independence and have only destroyed India with their Divisive politics ever since.

She too is well aware that FEKU MODI is just a Pathological liar.

She is senior lady, salute for her support. But, in what intention people voted her how can she support people in need. she should be able to resolve the problems of the people. she is mentally and physically old I don't think she could tolerate the politics. hope she will not fell sick in future. congeies think strongly before you vote and elect people this is looks like jock. elected member should be available 24x7.hope everyone understands my point.

Atleast this lady has the stamp of senior and can be excused for not being there in time and delayed actions. Just let us have some names from you of the so called elected (young?) people, who are really working one hour a day .. forget about 24/7, furthermore after being elected, they conveniently have amnesia on the promises made prior to the election. This lady might be senior but more active than most of the seat holders who are brain dead.
