Motor bike-borne robbers fleece pedestrian of Rs 1 lac, documents

Mangaluru, Jun 8: A gang of two, which came in a motor bike, threatened a pedestrian and snatched away from him a handbag containing one lac rupees in cash and various documents. The incident occurred near Goddess Umamaheshwari Temple in Kapikad, Ullal, on the night of Saturday June 6.

Chandrashekhar, who resides near the said temple, runs a shop at Bunder in the city. As usual, after closing the shop and writing the daily accounts, he started his journey back home by bus. Reportedly, a motor bike closely followed this bus.

He got down from the bus near his home, and was walking towards his residence, when two persons who came from behind in a motor bike stopped him and threatened him to hand over the handbag to them. They then sped away after snatching the handbag.

Chandrashekhar said that the handbag contained one lac rupees in cash meant for next day's trading, as well as other documents like electoral identity card, PAN card, and some other documents. It is suspected that those who knew of his routine would have been behind this robbery.

A case stands registered in Ullal relating to this incident. Police personnel of the station have launched an investigation.
