Kayyara Kinhanna Rai turns 100 - celebration planned

Kasargod, Jun 8: The centennial of well-known Kannada litterateur, 'Pampa' awardee, 'Nadoja' Dr Kayyara Kinhanna Rai, who has turned 100 today, is being celebrated in a meaningful way at his residence at 'Kavita Kuteera' in Peradala near Badiyadka on Monday June 8.

A programme is being organized under the joint aegis of Kannada and culture department of Karnataka and Peradala Kavita Kuteera. Retired Karnataka Lokayukta, Justice N Santosh Hegde, will be inaugurating the programme.

Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, B Ramanath Rai, will preside over the function. Karnataka health minister, U T Khadar, and director in the department of Kannada and culture, K A Dayanand, will take part as chief guests.

Symposium being organized on different aspects of the celebrated writer's personality from 3 pm onward today will be presided over by retired Kannada professor of Madhurai Kamaraj University, Dr Harikrishna Bharanya.
