I am CM for remaining term - Siddu, disinterested in central ministry - Yeddy

Daijiworld Media Network - Mysuru/Shivamogga (SP)

Mysuru/Shivamogga, Jun 9: Karnataka chief minister, Siddaramaiah, insisted that there is no room for any doubt about his continuance in the office of the state's chief minister for the remaining three years of term. He made this claim during a press conference held in Mysuru on Monday June 8.

'I have noted the statement of former chief minister, B S Yeddyurappa, comparing my administration to that of erstwhile eccentric emperor, Muhammad Bin Tughlaq. He has predicted that this position will slip out of my hands. Was Yeddyurappa jailed for giving an efficient and transparent administration?' he questioned sarcastically. He concluded that Yeddyurappa does not have the moral right to speak about Congress rule.

'I understand that Yeddyurappa has launched diatribe against the Congress out of frustration over the poor showing of BJP in gram panchayat election. He has been issuing contradictory statements, as he finds it hard to digest the rising popularity of Congress government. I can guarantee to the people that I will be the CM for the next three years,' he asserted.

About the allegation that the state has borrowed in excess, he said loans have been raised for the progress of the state. Siddaramaiah said he is aware that availing of loan facility just because someone is offering it, is not the right thing to do, as repayment capacity is an important factor. He assured that loans have been raised within the repaying capacity of Karnataka.

Responding to opinions expressed by meteorologists that monsoon might be poor this time, he said he is confident that the state will get good rain, although the department has predicted poor rainfall all over the country. He added that the government will be mulling over steps needed to handle the situation if deficit rainfall is experienced, and how to come to the rescue of farmers in such a scenario.

Not interested in central ministry: BSY

In the meanwhile, participating in an interaction organized by Shivamogga District Working Journalists Union at the district headquarters on Monday, former CM, MP, and national vice president of BJP, B S Yeddurappa, said that he fought and won the parliamentary election as per the wishes of the central leaders. 'I have also accepted the post of the national vice president of the party. I have been working for the progress of the party as desired by them. Central leaders will take suitable decision about me at the opportune time. I have more interest in state's politics, and I want to bring BJP back to power in Karnataka. Therefore, I am not very keen on becoming a minister at the centre,' he clarified.

Yeddy is just passing time in Delhi, and at the same time waiting like a hungry vulture to pounce on Karnataka (day dreaming of course!!)
