Mangaluru, Jun 10: Ullal  police have received complaint from a married woman living near Paneeru, Deralakatte here, alleging that her neighbour tried to rape her.

The married woman, who is 39-year-old, said that she went through this horrible experience when going to her husband's home near Paneeru after finishing work at Jeppinamogaru. Iddinkunhi alias Bawa (20), resident of Paneeru Site in Kotekar, who has since gone into hiding, has been named as the accused in the case.

The lady said she was walking by Jalalbagh Road after alighting from a bus at Paneeru, when the accused who suddenly approached her from behind, tried to rape her by holding her neck and body with his hands. When the woman, who was taken unawares, raised an alarm, he reportedly fled from the spot after warning the woman that she would be killed if she revealed to anyone else about this incident.

On the basis of a complaint filed by the distressed woman, a case stands registered in Ullal police station. The policemen are looking for the accused.
