Woman jumps into well with child - frustration over surgery lapse alleged

Daijiworld Media Network - Beltangady (SP)

Beltangady, Jun 11: A woman from Janata Colony in Karambaru, Shirlalu in the taluk jumped into well along with her two-month-old child on the night of Tuesday June 9. Reportedly, she was frustrated at the never-ending ordeal of treatments she has been undergoing relating to the reported lapse on the part of professionals in operating upon her.

Chandravati (29), daughter of Birmana Poojary from Shirlalu, and her child, Chirag, lost their lives in this incident.

Chandravati had married Chidanand from Kunjaru in Aryapu village in Puttur taluk about six years back. The couple already has a four-year-old male child, and the lady committed suicide during her stay with her parents during the second delivery.

Her first delivery was conducted through caesarian section procedure. At the advice of the obstetrician, caesarian section was conducted during the second delivery too in a private hospital in Puttur. After her delivery followed by family planning through sterilization procedure, she returned home. Within a few days since she returned to the home of her parents, she started suffering from stomach ache. She went to the hospital where she had got treatment earlier, but the problem aggravated. She then approached hospitals in Beltangady and Mangaluru, but her condition did not improve.

It is said that Chandravati then found through scanning done at Moodbidri that sutures had been left behind during the surgery. Although she was treated for this, the stomach pain which kept bothering her to no end frustrated her. Family members feel that out of frustration over her health condition, Ratnavati had committed suicide after everyone else slept on Tuesday night.

Beltangady police circle inspector, B R Lingappa, tahsildar, Putta Shetty, Vanoor police sub-inspector, Vinayak Billava, and others visited her home.

Ratnavati did not face any other problems including financial or conjugal, neighbours claim.

Jossey, you can term the doctor as 'inefficient' like our previous PM Manmohan Singh rather terming him as fake.
