Bike accident, pedestrian John Monteiro succumbs to injuries

Mangaluru, Jun 12: The pedestrian who was hit by a bike on the night of Wednesday, June 10 has succumbed to injuries.

John Monteiro (59) from St Joseph’s Nagar is the person deceased. He breathed his last on Thursday, June 11.

John Monteiro was on his way home after buying necessary things for his house at around 9.30 pm on Wednesday. He was suddenly knocked down by a speeding bike at Nandigudda circle. He was immediately rushed to hospital with injuries to his head.

John Montero had been working as an attender at Milagres Pre University College in city for the past 30 years. Originally he hailed from Ballapadavu of Narampady parish in Kasargod district.

The biker responsible for the accident did not stop the bike and disappeared.

The deceased is survived by wife, son and a daughter.

Traffic police (East) have registered a case regarding the matter.

    I will never forget john sir. He was the person who had helped me one the first day of school.. Very charming helpful person. May his soul rest in peace. The non teaching staff of milagres school at those days were very helpful people.. God bless them.

    One more precious life has gone. Road accidents are on the increase and despite all the attention by the Traffic Police one hears of accidents like these almost every day.

    Investigations will reveal the cause of the accident. Hope the family of the deceased will get suitable compensation from the Insurance Company.

    Now a days one who involved in the accident he leaves his vehicle and run for his life instead getting beaten up from the public no matter who's fault it was.So this is becomes the culture.We need to change this culture by giving all hand support to save life and the person who causes the accident.Then law will do the rest.
