Udupi, Jun 12: A man and a girl ,who were missing for the past three days , were found together dead hanging from a tree at Kajarahalli near Saibrakatte on Friday , June 12 evening.

The deceased have been identified as Divakar (26) a rickshaw driver and Chaithra (16) a student of Mandarthi high school. Both were the residents of Kajarahalli.

A missing complaint about the duo was lodged three days back at Shankaranarayana police station, it is gathered.

Some villagers found the couple hanging from a tree outside the village near Kajarahalli on Friday evening and informed others.

Sources said that the couple were in love and there were objections about it from their families. Some days back they were spotted together in the village in a public place and people had made comments about them. These things  might have prompted them to take the extreme step, it is suspected.

Divakar was a popular person in the vicinity for his good behaviour. Divakar and Chaithra belonged to different communities. In addition to the rickshaw, Divakar owned an Omni car. His family was engaged in farming as well. The abandoned Omni car was found near the site of the suicide. Chaithra stayed at her aunt's house for her education.

Police do harass love birds specially when minor girl is involved. Parents from girls side often mis use law by lodging kidnapping and pocso charges. Its sorry to hear the agonies they go threw. Atleast couple should have surrendrered in front of magistrate or police ( higher officials ), with clear written consent of girl. In 99 percent of cases court accept the girls consent even if she is a minor as case is specific and complicated. The adolescents now a days are very mature and stat relationships very early in their lives so its wise to treat age of puberty as age of consent. God have mercy on their souls.

Yet another episode of the sad routine.

Girls show great keenness on relationship and marriage much before the onset of puberty. Sure, everyone knows that they are not ready for the marriage.

But once the puberty sets in, there is very little to stop the girls from having a focus on their marriage and settling down. So, technically, a girl is ready to get married by the time she is 14.

A vast majority of our great-great-grandmothers married by the time they turned 14. Today's world dissuades the girls from entertaining such thoughts before they turn 18. I agree with this. Regardless the girls look for opportunities to start relationship by the time they turn 15-16.

Girls of this age do not, of course, that boys/men are hardly interested in a marriage. For men, it is a huge and avoidable responsibility. So why get married!

I think the society must look for ways to teach the girls that men are not interested in a marriage. Of course, the big question is, will the girls pay attention to this wisdom?
