Udupi: Manipal youths launch unique app for Ramadan

Udupi, Jun 13: A group of youths in Manipal have launched a unique app - 'eRamadan' that will cater to the religious needs during the holy month of Ramadan.

Mohammed Yunus Rahmathullah Tonse, who completed his graduation from Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management and post-graduation from School of Information Sciences, Manipal University is leading the Manipal-based company, Tonse Technologies, which developed and launched the app. Nihal Karkala, leading this project is an automobile expert and amazing talent at creativity.

The current features in the app include special supplications throughout the month and year, prayer timings according to location, location of nearby mosques, fasting guide and benefits. "Our target audience will be those who are religious and techsavy, adding to the apps of lifestyle segment," said Tonse.

"One feature to be included soon would be availability of the holy book Quran in several local languages," he said. In the meantime, the firm is also available for joint collaborations or development and sponsorships.

The eRamdan team comprises of following members:

Interestingly an amazing mix of people are realizing this application on three different platforms. The team is further working on a lifestyle application for other communities as well.
