Mangaluru, Jun 13: The police on Saturday June 13 arrested a person accused of attempted molestation and assault from Wenlock hospital here. The accused had reportedly got himself admitted to hospital and later refused to be discharged even though the doctors found nothing wrong with him, sources said.

The accused has been identified as Kotebagilu Subhashnagar resident Ravi Devadiga. He is accused of attempting to molest a woman, assaulting a youth, threatening people and stopping the police from discharging their duties.

The accused had allegedly pulled the sari of a woman at Kotebagilu and also attacked her son Mahanthesh with an iron rod. He had threatened the locals who had come to question his misbehavior. A complaint was registered against him in Moodbidri police station. He had also allegedly thrown kerosene oil cans on police who had gone to his house to arrest him after the complaint, thereby stopping them from discharging their duties.

The accused Ravi and his three daughters had got themselves admitted at Wenlock hospital alleging harassment by the police. Ravi had refused to get discharged from the hospital even though the doctors had said that there was nothing wrong with him and that he could leave.

The Moodbidri police then arrived at Wenlock hospital and arrested him on June 13 and produced him in Moodbidri court which sent him to judicial custody till June 26.

It has become a common practice to get admitted in hospital if VIPs or politicians face problem as naturally one gets mentally ill when things go wrong. But the difference is there is no minimum protection for common man when he is discharged from hospital unlike big people. That may be the reason behind refusal to leave hospital.

If he is ready to pay hospital bill on daily basis then hospital should not have object. Also hospital should do take his x-ray,ECG etc on daily basis.

He should be attended by oldest nurse in the hospital with at least three big injections per day.

Guess because of his violent & pervert behavior, he himself might have felt, he is sick & needs medical attention.Guess counselling might help him..

Doctor unable to find his inner problem even though thru scan.
Better let him give more time in the hospital and recover money from him..only last alternative left.

He had inner problem not an physical problem. Brain will be purified..while looking 'nurses' around.

This is a rare situation. From the reports it appears that the accused took law in his own hands. However it is difficult to escape the hand of law and in Mangalore and in D.K. we have a very good Police Force and for sure detailed truth will soon emerge.

A weak law enforcement system prompts this kind of daringness even on fools.
You have never heard of such incidences in the past. Have you ever heard of 1600 terrorists being acquitted not by the courts but by the govt?
Have you heard of an unpad CM declaring freebies and taking Karnataka to become like a Tamilnadu or Bihar?
Its all about the govt. of the day. Once the govt. changes, or ofr the time being if Bhagyaramayya is replaced, we might hope to see some changes for better.
