Bengaluru, June 15 (IANS): Tata Sons-Singapore Airlines joint venture's full-service carrier Vistara will connect Bengaluru with New Delhi and Mumbai from Tuesday, a company official said on Monday.
"Bengaluru is the 10th destination in our expanded network to transform air travel experience of our customers," Vistara chief executive Phee Teik Yeoh told reporters here ahead of its first flight from New Delhi to here and from here to Mumbai.
The airline, which launched operations five months ago, will operate two flights daily between Bengaluru and New Delhi and Bengaluru and Mumbai.
"Bengaluru is our second destination in south India after Hyderabad to be connected to Delhi and Mumbai," he said.
As the third populous city and a top IT destination in the country, Bengaluru is the most visited city in India for business travel and leisure.
"We are pleased to connect the IT capital with the national capital and commercial capital and look forward to serving a wider customer base and offer them our personalised service," Phee said.
After inducting three more aircraft by November, the full-fledged carrier plans to spread its wings to Chennai and Kolkata among other cities.
"Our strategy is to connect major cities where corporates are in need of a quality service in flights and at airports," Phee said.
To mark the new route, the airline is offering passengers 20 percent discount on a Titan watch priced above Rs.5,000 at its retail outlets during the inaugural week (June 16-22) of the new service to Delhi and Mumbai.
"Our guests in the first week of the launch service can present their special boarding pass at any Titan store in Bengaluru, Delhi or Mumbai to avail the discount," said COO Giam Ming Toh said.
Titan Industries Ltd is a Tata group company with branded watches, gems and jewellery, wearable accessories, eyecare and helmets.
The airline plans to enter into more partnerships with the group firms to offer value added services to its passengers.
Launching its service on January 9 from New Delhi, the airline has spread its network to 237 flights a week, also connecting Ahmedabad, Bagdogra, Guwahati, Panaji, Hyderabad, Lucknow and Pune.
"We have flown about 300,000 customers and delivered an on-time performance of 96 percent since February. Our plane load factor has touched 66 percent in April," Giam added.
